Many students in Detroit, Michigan show to with used or second-hand supplies. This makes it harder for them to focus on what they need to – learning. But, what one lawyer did to change that is really inspirational and gives me a lot of hope for humanity. Mike Morse decided to give away nearly $500,000 to buy 23,000 backpacks which were filled with supplies necessary for school kids, from grades K through 5. These gifts brought great joy throughout the district, and of course nationwide as this story is getting picked up through the internet!
“As a result of the donation, they now have all the supplies they need to start the year. The entire family of 5 was incredibly grateful and it was really moving,” O’Grady told the Good News Network. “They heard nothing but bad things about Detroit before moving there, but this helped them realize that there are generous people everywhere.”
