The FAA is likely the most innovative branch of government, registering over 300k drones in just a few months. It’s great to see such progress so quickly.
All aircraft weighing more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams) and less than 55 pounds (approx. 25 kilograms), including payloads such as on-board cameras, must be registered.
Registering drones above 1/2 of a pound is a good measure with regard to mitigating concerns with safely integrating drones within our National Airspace. The FAA first announced that drones will need to be registered in October, and tossed around the idea for over a year.
